real artistic, historic and ethnic value all over
the world. Teapots have become great gift items. The
first tea pot originated in China in the 16th Century.
The Japanese drank various teas, including green tea.
By the eighteenth Century the teapots made at Yixing, China,
were being produced in forms which had symbolic significances,
for example, peach shape for longer life and good fortune,
pomegranate for many, healthy kids.
Early
teapots, when brought to Europe, inspired
potters to respond with new variations of tea kettle culture.
Britain, being more keen on tea drinking than the remainder
of Europe, made the tea pot their own specialism.
Presently,
tea drinking is making a comeback in the United States.
Some state Americans are changing from "happy hour"
to "tea time." Excessive social drinking is
increasingly frowned upon and, with executives facing
shrinking expense budgets, the "power lunch"
is being replaced by the "power tea." Herbal
teas popularized during the 60s are also realising
acceptance as more people try to avoid caffeine.

of the various tea types. A selection of tea varieties
is ideal for afternoon tea or a simple tea party.

of antigens made by the body, substances that can activate
an immune response. EGCG, a substance found in green

The UK government has today (18 May) announced a GBP50m (US$79m) deal to sell British pork to China, as part of wider plans to boost trade for British food and farming businesses. Asda, the UK's second-largest retailer, has reported "market-leading growth" in early weeks of 2012. Analysts say Asda's focus on price has helped the retailer gain shoppers from the likes of Tesco and Morrisons, although, if and when the economy recovers, it may need to demonstrate it can offer consumers more. Dean Best reports. Two of the private-equity firms that reportedly tabled bids for frozen food giant Iglo Group are said to have not progressed to the second round of the auction.
