A
Hand blown glass teapot is a unique and cost effective gift
choice for
showers, anniversaries, Mother's Day, wedding presents, or the holidays.
Every tea kettle is carefully hand finished by experienced
glass artisans.
Hand
made Euro tea pot. Teapots have a
real artistic, historical and ethnic value throughout
the world. Teapots have become great gift items. The
first tea pot originated in China in the 16th Century.
The Japanese drank assorted teas, including green tea.
By the eighteenth Century the teapots made at Yixing, China,
were being made in shapes which had symbolic significations,
for example, peach shape for long life and good fortune,
pomegranate for numerous, healthy children.
Early
teapots, when imported to Europe, inspired
potters to develop new variations of tea pot culture.
Britain, being more keen on tea drinking than the remainder
of Europe, made the teapot their own specialization.
Now,
tea drinking is making a comeback in the U.S.
Some say Americans are shifting from "happy hour"
to "tea time." Excessive social drinking is
increasingly frowned upon and, with executives facing
shrinking expense accounts, the "power lunch"
is being replaced by the "power tea." Herbal
teas popularized during the 1960s are also gaining
adoption as more people try to refrain from caffeine.
Today
we savor an assortment of herbal teas.
Many specialized "healthy" teas are now available.
Many of these are decaffeinated and organic versions
of the different tea types. A choice of tea varieties
is ideal for afternoon tea or a simple tea party.
Research
with green tea in animals has shown it can reduce arthritis.
Green tea, already extolled for its cancer fighting ability,
may also protect against certain autoimmune diseases,
new research indicates. Green teas suppress the expression
of antigens made by the body, substances that can trigger
an immune response. EGCG, a substance found in green
tea is known to suppress inflammation.

More Thoughts From Roger EbertNew York Times (blog)I am not a gourmet. My good fiend Anna Thomas is very much a gourmet, and I asked her to write an introduction warning readers that a rice cooker is no way ...and more » |
These hamburger patties are made with ground beef combined with blue cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and dry mustard. Grill or broil for best flavor. Patties can also be broiled. This was made from Thanksgiving leftovers, and ingredients in my pantry. It's a family favorite and a hit at Pot lucks. With leftovers, it's a breeze, made from scratch ... it's work. Either way it's a hit and well worth the time. After a holiday meal half the work is done because you usually have the mashed potatoes, and turkey. When I make it from scratch, I usually use chicken rather than turkey. Prep times are from leftovers. This is a very old favorite of Aunt Dora's collection. I believe it's also called a pie, but this is a hearty dish as a snack or breakfast meal. I now have to make it twice a year, so no one can wait for Easter only in my family!
